Our Faithful Companion

Our Faithful Companion

.

While looking through some old pictures yesterday,
A tear rolled down my cheek into my beard of gray,
As I saw images of our faithful companion so clear,
That had kept us company for so many long years.

Our Faithful Companion

.

I found pictures of our beloved puppy so very cute,
When she was under a year old before her first haircut,
She was so soft and fluffy with big fur so very soft,
Cutsie was so huggable against your cheek high aloft.

.

She spend a lot of her time posing for pictures in my chair,
As she loved all of the attention that she did get there.
You can see the joy she gave me there in my own eyes,
As she posed for her picture sitting up so very high.

.

Cutsie just loved to give sweet kisses on Pam’s cheek,
As it seemed to give her great joy with her fur so sleek.
I think Pam enjoyed it a lot too with her smile so bright
As if that kiss had turned on her internal joy light.

.

When we left to go out and eat and just got back home,
Cutsie always jumped in my lap like it was her throne.
Then she would give me lots of kisses on my ears,
Just thinking about her kisses still brings a few tears.

.

I think Cutsie was aware we were taking her picture,
As she always seemed to strike a pose held up in air.
Loving the attention she was getting from her Pam,
As she always kind of acted like a big picture “ham”.

.

Cutsie’s soft fur was getting quite long by this time,
In fact she kind of looked like a fluff ball that did shine.
Her fur was starting to cover both her big round eyes,
And she had the softest fur I had touched in my life.

.

Pam looked Cutsie over and whispered in her ear,
We must take you out to dog care to cut your hair.
Even though we both love your silky fur soft feel,
You will surely look better and have more eye appeal.

.

So we took her to get her first haircut the next day,
And we were so sad to leave her there, I must say.
As we had never left her at a place before all alone,
But she looked great when we picked her up to go home.

.

We were so proud of our pretty girl looking so good,
And we knew she felt better then, just like she should.
She didn’t like that blue bow too much on her head,
And she scratched it on off soon before going to bed.

.

Siting on my lap in my chair became a daily thing,
Even when I slept, mutual joy she did always bring.
We became so attached over our fourteen years,
That losing her did bring us lots of those sad tears.
